Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse

Overview

TNAA Total Med RN is seeking a travel nurse RN OR – Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Lewiston, Idaho. The assignment is a 13‑week placement at 40 hours per week, with 10‑hour shifts.

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients, providing pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education.
• Provide basic bedside care and administer prescribed medication, recording any adverse reactions.
• Act as the communication liaison between patients’ family members and the operating team.
• Ensure that the correct procedure(s) are being performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plans as prescribed by the physician and teach patients and families how to manage medication and home‑care needs.
• Additional duties for Circulating OR Nurses include: responding to comfort and safety needs of patients, accurate handling of specimens, monitoring equipment used during surgery, and inventory of surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional duties for Scrub OR Nurses include: selection and handling of surgical instruments and supplies during procedures, and inventory of surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional duties for RN First Assistant include: assisting physicians by delivering direct surgical care, controlling bleeding, and suturing patients following surgery.

OR Travel Nurses should be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty, and lift up to 50 pounds when necessary. They may face hazards from exposure to certain chemicals or infectious diseases in the operating room environment.

• ACLS and BLS certification.
• 3 years of recent acute‑care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or RN first assistant.
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
