Core Responsibilities:

What can you expect to do as a Survey Team Coordinator?
• Coordinate a team of surveyors as you conduct inspections and investigate complaint allegations in acute-level providers such as hospitals, hospices, ambulatory surgical centers, and others;
• Interview complainants and witnesses to obtain information regarding complaint allegations;
• Perform record reviews and observations in facilities;
• Write reports known as “Statements of Deficiencies,” which outline the rules/regulations that the facility failed to follow;
• Assist your team members to ensure Statements of Deficiencies comply with the requirements set by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (“CMS”);
• Participate in training, including mandatory online training required by CMS;
• Ensure that facilities comply with both Federal and State licensing requirements

This position does require statewide travel and occasional overnight stays; in addition, it may be necessary to conduct occasional early morning, night, or weekend survey work.

Minimum Qualifications:

Registered Nurse and a four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of nursing and/or in the delivery of health care services.

Licensing Requirements: (This must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class)
Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Maine as issued by the State Board of Nursing.

Preferred candidates will ALSO have:
• Experience working as a nurse in hospitals – particularly medical/surgical, emergency department, operating room, or intensive care unit
• Experience working as a nurse in ambulatory surgical centers; home health care agencies, dialysis facilities or hospices;
• Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills; and
• A demonstrated knowledge of or willingness to learn federal and state regulatory requirements for acute healthcare facilities
