Director of Technical Services POSITION SUMMARY
City FM's Technical Training Academy (FCTA) is seeking a Trades Instructor with deep experience in industrial process plumbing, steam systems, boilers, and industrial water distribution systems to deliver classroom and hands-on training for Boeing maintenance technicians. This role will instruct classes of 12-18 maintenance technicians on the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operation of industrial piping systems, valves, steam and water distribution systems, boilers, water heaters, and related equipment.
Training is delivered alongside another instructor in both classroom and hands-on learning environments.
- Deliver classroom and hands-on technical training, coaching, and skills development in industrial process plumbing and steam systems.
- Instruct maintenance technicians on piping materials and systems including steel, stainless steel, copper, plastic, threaded, welded, and grooved piping.
- Teach operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of valves, including Cla-Val valves, PRVs, control valves, and isolation valves.
- Provide training on steam, condensate, hot water, and industrial water distribution systems.
- Evaluate trainee performance through practical exercises and skills assessments.
- Support development and continuous improvement of training materials.
- Promote safety and industry best practices throughout all training activities.
- Demonstrate safe work practices and ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures, regulations, and site requirements.
- 10+ years of experience in industrial plumbing, steam systems, industrial piping, or related mechanical trades.
- Strong knowledge of industrial piping systems, valves, steam distribution, boilers, and water systems.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairing industrial plumbing, steam, boilers, and piping systems.
- Experience with a variety of piping materials and installation methods.
- Ability to effectively train and mentor adult learners.
- Strong presentation, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally as needed.
- Journeyman or Master Plumber license.
- Previous technical training, apprenticeship instruction, workforce development, or adult learning experience.
- Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, utility, healthcare, or large industrial facilities.
- Knowledge of boiler systems, condensate recovery, and water treatment.
TRAVEL Occasional travel to Boeing or City FM training locations, including Philadelphia, PA and St. Louis, MO, may be required.
