Job Summary
This position is designed to provide regular coverage for full‑time staff vacation periods and provide extra coverage in the program, thereby permitting more time for the Youth Workers to be involved in Youth Development activities with the residents. Shifts may be available in any of the three programs New Beginnings operates.

Essential Job Functions- Provide coverage for Youth Worker and Awake Night vacations.
- When not covering these positions, work a recurring weekly schedule assigned by the Program Coordinator.
- Record daily progress notes.
- Transport and accompany clients to appointments and/or meetings as appropriate.
- Conduct routine meetings with youth when filling in for a Youth Worker on vacation.
- Advocate for youth and teach advocacy skills to obtain needed services.
- Organize, facilitate, and participate in daily recreational activities as needed.
- Teach independent living skills through active participation in chores, cooking and daily activities.
- Assess and handle crisis situations, behavioral issues and rule violations.
- Monitor and dispense medication.
- Participate in staff meetings.
- Facilitate client group meetings as needed or assigned.
- Other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
Education and Training: Mature adult with high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years’ experience with high‑risk youth, youth in a residential setting or two years of college in a social services related field.
Specialized SkillsDrivers license; clean driving record; basic knowledge of and ability to teach independent living skills experientially; basic counseling and case management skills; basic professional writing skills; computer literacy.
Cognitive RequirementsGood problem‑solving skills; literacy and general knowledge at least at a high school graduate level.
Physical RequirementsStrength and dexterity to do basic household maintenance; ability to climb stairs.
Work EnvironmentResidential setting for adolescents; shift work involving some nights and weekends; much time spent in a community environment; some outdoor activities. Ability to work as a member of a team required.
