Position Objective

The Furniture Assembly Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day furniture assembly operations, including receiving unassembled goods, material handling, inventory accuracy, and adherence to the production schedule. This role ensures production objectives are met while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency standards. The Supervisor partners closely with the Sr. Manager, Continuous Improvement – Distribution Center & Furniture Assembly and the Vertically Integrated Supply Chain team to execute production plans, identify quality or process issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

The position plays a key role in monitoring performance, addressing defects, and ensuring assembled products meet design, packaging, and shipping integrity requirements.

Position Responsibilities Include
  • Effectively manage a team of 20–30 staff members by setting clear expectations for performance, policies, procedures, and safety. Address staff concerns, performance issues, attendance, conflicts, and disciplinary actions promptly and professionally.
  • Execute the established furniture assembly production schedule in partnership with the Sr. Manager, Continuous Improvement – Distribution Center & Furniture Assembly.
  • Ensure system transactions and production activities are aligned to schedules to minimize downtime and labor inefficiencies.
  • Supervise daily assembly operations to meet weekly production goals, quality standards, and safety expectations.
  • Track production output, labor utilization, and key performance metrics; elevate issues and improvement opportunities as needed.
  • Engages the team to identify inefficiencies and enhance operational flow, efficiency, and quality.
  • Monitor quality performance, identify defects, and support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying process inefficiencies and participating in improvement initiatives.
  • Manage receiving schedules for containers, including unloading, receiving, put-away of raw materials, and required People Soft inventory updates.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for assembled goods in Warehouse

  • Coordinate with Warehouse B to ensure assembled inventory is available to meet shipping and order demand.
  • Support the Returns Department by coordinating repairs of returned products for factory second sales.
  • Respond to internal customer needs (Customer Support, Key Accounts, Sales) related to packaging issues, repair parts, or missing hardware.
  • Collaborate with packaging and box vendors to ensure packaging standards support product protection and reduce damage and returns.
