Dallas Mechanical Group (DMG) is a full-service provider of commercial HVAC construction, service, and maintenance solutions. DMG is a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., and is one of the largest, best-respected HVAC contractors in Texas.
We are looking for a passionate, detail-oriented, entry level Estimator to join our team. This team member must be self-motivated, courteous, a team player, dependable, eager to learn, accurate and thorough. The Estimator is responsible for collecting historical cost data, consulting with clients, vendors, and personnel in various departments to discuss and formulate estimates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products.
- Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
- Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
- Review contract and bid documents; review and understand scope for project turnover.
- Attend walk-throughs, pre-bid and scope clarification meetings.
- Quantitative take-off and computer entry.
- Prepare scope letters and proposals.
- Maintain relationships with customers, General Contractors, vendors and subcontractors.
- Coordinate efforts with the Engineering Department.
- May review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, and/or availability of materials.
- Review quotes obtained from subcontractors for accurate scope of work as per plans and specs.
- Ensure documents are centrally saved in the company's drive within the confidential estimating folder(s).
- Assist project managers with takeoffs and pricing changes in work.
- Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Vice President of Preconstruction with recommendation for resolution.
- Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
- Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.
- Attend job walks, team meetings, and site visits.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must have knowledge of the appropriate codes and standards which govern design and operating requirements.
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Must be able to handle confidential information.
- Must be organized and able to prioritize tasks.
