Senior Safety Coordinator – Transmission & Distribution (Storm Response)

We are seeking a Senior Safety Coordinator to support transmission and distribution (T&D) construction projects with a strong focus on storm response and emergency restoration efforts. This person will help ensure crews work safely during both day-to-day operations and major storm events while maintaining compliance with utility and industry safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Field Safety Leadership:
  Provide safety guidance and support to line crews, foremen, and field leadership. Conduct field observations to ensure compliance with OSHA and utility safety requirements. Verify safe work practices including job briefings, grounding, minimum approach distances (MAD), PPE usage, and energized work procedures. Coach employees on safety expectations and promote a strong safety culture. Document observations and address safety concerns when necessary.
• Storm Response & Emergency Operations:
  Help prepare crews and operations teams for storm events. Support mobilization, staging, and deployment activities during emergency restoration efforts. Serve as a safety resource during storm response operations. Monitor fatigue management, crew rest schedules, and safe work practices. Ensure required ICS (Incident Command System) training and procedures are followed.
• Training & Development:
  Deliver and document safety training for field personnel. Train employees on OSHA  requirements, arc flash protection, grounding, and energized work practices. Maintain First Aid, CPR, AED, and rescue readiness programs.
• Incident Investigation:
  Assist with investigations involving incidents, injuries, and near misses. Identify root causes and develop corrective actions. Provide first aid support and coordinate medical response when required.
• Compliance & Regulatory Support:
  Ensure compliance with OSHA, NESC, MUTCD, and client-specific safety requirements. Verify utility safety rules and procedures are communicated and followed. Support accurate documentation and safety reporting.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of T&D safety experience.
• 3+ years supporting utility construction or outside line operations required.
• Previous storm restoration or emergency response experience.
• OSHA 30 preferred; OSHA  training required.
• OSHA 500/510 certifications strongly preferred.
• FEMA ICS 100, 200, and 700 certifications required or obtainable within 90 days.
• First Aid/CPR/AED Trainer certification required or obtainable within 90 days.
• Utility or electrical contractor experience strongly preferred.
• Prior Lineman or Foreman experience is highly desired.

• Knowledge of OSHA , OSHA 1926 Subpart V, NESC, and MUTCD standards.

• Experience with energized work, grounding, switching procedures, arc flash protection, and utility safety programs.
