To own the end-to-end design direction and quality bar for J.Hilburn's full digital sales tools suite - iOS Stylist App (all devices), digital product presentation, product sales tools (product configurator, try-on, and outfitting), and CRM tools.
As the senior-most contributor on the design track (no direct reports), this role frames ambiguous problems, owns the outcomes of shipped work, governs the shared design system that scales design quality across the suite, and multiplies the craft of the design team through partnership. Consult and mentor the team responsible for Partners with Product Management and Engineering leadership to translate Stylist needs and business goals into elegant, efficient, high-quality digital experiences.
~Key Accountability Areas ~
* Design Direction & Craft*
- Own end-to-end design direction for the digital sales tools suite — from problem framing and concept through high-fidelity design and shipped experience — anchored on the iOS Stylist application.
- Set and uphold the design direction and quality bar across the suite, ensuring experiences are intuitive, high-performing, and measurably improve Stylist productivity.
- Usability quality signal:
Reduce rage-clicks and dead or abandoned Stylist workflows release over release. - Identify and drive high-impact design opportunities that improve order management and Stylist efficiency, and bring them to Product Management for prioritization.
- Personally produce the reference-quality wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready designs that set the craft standard others calibrate to.
- Architect seamless, elegant, end-to-end flows across the suite that optimize speed, ease of use, and intuitive navigation while minimizing friction.
- Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines:
Ensure 100% compliance.
- Lead discovery into Stylist workflows, pain points, and efficiency blockers, and translate findings into a prioritized design-opportunity backlog.
- Order-processing error rate:
Own a measurable reduction in order-processing errors attributable to workflow and interface design. - Frame each significant initiative with an explicit success hypothesis and a measured post-launch outcome - the shipped feature is the midpoint of the work, not the finish line.
- Research ownership:
Decide what is worth researching, then own synthesis into prioritized, evidence-backed recommendations (including validation interviews as warranted). - Define and use qualitative and quantitative signals - including Log Rocket instrumentation - to locate friction and verify that designs measurably reduced it.
- Partner with Product Management, Creative, Merchandising, and Engineering to ensure seamless execution across the suite, and serve as the senior design point of contact.
- Design decisions:
Articulate and defend design decisions to senior stakeholders, and lead alignment across engineering, product, and marketing. - Safeguard brand integrity across the suite and champion consistency with the broader J.Hilburn design language.
- Influence beyond ownership:
Consult to and mentor the team responsible for , extending design craft and consistency to a product this role influences without owning. - Raise the craft of the design team through a standing critique cadence and shared, reusable patterns - multiplying quality across the team.
- Provide individual-contributor leadership: mentor designers and grow the team’s capability through influence and partnership.
- Own delivery and quality standards across the suite proactively - including task-completion-time, loading and interaction-response improvements, responsiveness, and accessibility across all supported devices.
- App loading speed and interaction response time:
Improve by at least 50%. - Accessibility:
Achieve and maintain WCAG 2.1 AA compliance. - Adoption rate:
At least 95% for newly introduced UI features.
- Design-system ownership & reuse:
Own and govern the shared design system as the mechanism that scales quality across the suite; track component reuse rate and the reduction in redundant design work it enables. - Establish a Stylist feedback loop to track performance and iterate on designs based on qualitative insights.
- Documentation:
Ensure all major design decisions are documented within 5 days of implementation and are followed across all UI components.
- Assessment:
Takes accountability for self-assessment of one’s effectiveness in the current role and how to improve. - Feedback:
Ask for feedback regarding personal effectiveness from relevant parties. - Development Plan:
Proactively discuss ways to improve personal effectiveness with your Immediate Manager. Seek opportunities for learning and growth. Participate fully in development opportunities provided by the Company and consciously apply what is learned from the development programs.
