TRIO Talent Search Ambassador (Part‑Time)
TRIO Talent Search is a grant‑funded pre‑college program that helps students prepare for higher education. The Ambassador supports the overall success of students by providing goal‑setting assistance, tutoring, group facilitation, and personal development.
Salary: $15 per hour, average of 10 hours per week, with a maximum of 19 hours per week.
Location: Corinth campus, Lewisville ISD (employees must reside in Texas or Oklahoma).
Responsibilities and duties:
- Recruit participants and act as student advocates through social and scholastic support.
- Supervise participants during program events and field trips.
- Provide quality customer service to current and prospective students.
- Participate in program recruiting activities.
- Create social media and online content using established workflows.
- Provide academic support through tutoring.
- Facilitate group discussions with program participants.
- Other duties as assigned; responsibilities may change based on departmental needs.
Required
Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills (including listening skills).
- Effective tutoring and tracking of academic progress.
- Ability to work with high school students (grades 9‑12).
- Positive role model and favorable public image.
- Self‑motivated with good interpersonal skills.
- Strong time‑management and organizational skills.
- Punctual, dependable, and maintains confidentiality of student information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and social media.
- Professional or personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting participants.
Preferred Skills & Abilities:
- Experience pursuing an educational credential, degree, or certificate.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (waived for first‑semester new students) and good academic standing.
- Current or former TRIO participant or from a first‑generation background.
