EPP Instructional Lead
Wage/Hour Status: $25/hour, part-time (less than 20 hours/week) / 11-month Contract - September through July
Reports to:
EPP Program Director
Primary Focus:
Curriculum Development, Instructional Delivery, and Candidate Coaching
The EPP Instructional Lead is responsible for the design, development, and presentation of instructional materials aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), Texas English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS), and Texas Educator Standards. This role serves as the pedagogical heart of the program, ensuring that teacher candidates develop the skills and techniques necessary for high-level student engagement and academic success.
PrimaryDuties And Responsibilities Curriculum & Instruction
- Curriculum Development:
Lead the development, implementation, review, and revision of program curricula, instructional strategies, and assessments. - Instructional Delivery:
Lead interactive training sessions in accordance with EPP and cohort schedules. - Canvas Instruction:
Monitor online discussion boards and assignment submissions; provide qualitative feedback within 48 hours to support candidate growth. - Professional Learning:
Collaborate with the Educator Preparation & Advancement and Professional Development departments to develop and deliver effective professional learning for teacher candidates.
- Instructional
Coaching:
Provide direct coaching and support to teacher candidates to ensure content mastery and classroom readiness. - Quality Assurance:
Review courses and supporting materials annually for quality assurance in accordance with Quality Matters (QM) standards and Texas Administrative Code (TAC).
- Research & Trends:
Stay abreast of current research, best practices, and trends related to K-12 instruction and teacher preparation. - Collaboration:
Maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and campus leaders to support the teacher candidates during pre-service field-based experiences (FBE). - Resource Selection:
Serve on committees for the selection and adoption of instructional materials and technology.
- Master’s Degree in Education or a related field (Required).
- Valid Texas Teacher Certification (Required).
- Texas Principal Certification (Preferred).
- ESL and/or Gifted certification (Preferred).
- Certified T-TESS appraiser (Preferred).
- 5+ years of successful teaching experience in Texas public schools.
- 3+ years of experience in instructional leadership or curriculum development.
- Experience with instructional technology and Learning Management Systems (Canvas).
- In-depth knowledge of TEKS, ELPS, and Texas Educator Standards.
- Strong familiarity with research-based pedagogy and cognitive academic language acquisition.
- Exemplary oral and written communication skills.
