About the Company

This opportunity sits within a well-established power delivery team supporting utility substation projects across the U.S. The group operates in an EPC-style environment, working across engineering, design, and construction to deliver projects from concept through execution.

You’ll be joining a team that supports both substation upgrades and new builds, with exposure to design, studies, and field coordination. It’s a strong fit for someone looking to build depth in substation engineering while working alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development of substation design deliverables, including wiring diagrams, schematics, BOMs, and as-built drawings.
  • Assist with engineering calculations and studies, including relay burden, short circuit, load flow, and grounding.
  • Contribute to P&C design efforts, including relay and control system design.
  • Support physical design coordination, including layouts and equipment integration.
  • Apply engineering tools for relay coordination, transformer sizing, and system studies.
  • Work with project teams to help track schedules and maintain deliverables.
  • Ensure designs follow applicable NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and drawing records.
  • Coordinate with engineers, designers, and project teams to support delivery.
  • Participate in site visits and field exposure to support construction and design validation.
Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
  • 2–7 years of substation engineering or design experience.
  • Experience with P&C design, including schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Basic understanding of protective relays, metering, and control systems.
  • Familiarity with substation components and design documentation.
  • Exposure to engineering studies (short circuit, grounding, load flow, relay coordination).
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, NEMA, ANSI standards.
  • Ability to manage tasks across multiple projects and work within a team environment.
Strongly Preferred
  • Experience in a consulting, EPC, or utility environment.
  • Hands-on experience with relay coordination or system studies.
  • Exposure to both P&C and physical substation design.
  • EIT certification or progress toward PE licensure.
  • Experience supporting construction or field activities.
  • Contract-to-Hire
  • Hybrid schedule (3 days onsite, 2 remote)
