Security and Compliance Requirements
Personnel may be covered by NERC CIP cyber security standards. Prior to being hired, promoted, or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a Personnel Risk Assessment, which includes identity verification and a criminal background check. Prior to being granted unescorted access to cyber secure areas, the candidate must attend cyber security training. Annual cyber security training is also required.
Given the financial nature of this position, a credit check may be required depending on location. If the position is covered, the candidate must successfully pass a credit background check.
Salary Grade: G06 $82,463 - $111,325 - $140,187
Summary: Under general supervision plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates the engineering work for a total project of moderate scope or for detailed phases of part of a major project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages all the engineering aspects of projects of moderate scope or detailed phases of major project efforts
- Leads or conducts performance, cost, and scheduling studies of varying size that are generally conventional in nature
- Supports operational areas through the application of standard and non-standard engineering techniques, practices, and procedures
- Communicates engineering ideas, recommendations, and evaluations to diverse internal groups in a working or conference type environment
- Represents the company's interests in engineering matters that may be varied and complex in nature
- Interacts with and provides broad knowledge technical support to other associates
- Applies engineering expertise to improve or develop new standards
- Provides technical direction and/or activity supervision to contractors and company personnel on a regular, ongoing basis
Competencies:
- Broad knowledge and proven ability to apply engineering principles, practices and regulations to, and perform economic and decision analysis studies of issues in areas including generation, transmission, distribution, system planning, financial and regulatory issues, asset utilization, and environmental controls and regulations
- Ability to read, interpret and apply national, state and local codes and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, ACI, AISC, ASME, NACE, etc.)
- Ability to translate electrical theory and physics to utility application for improving system reliability
- Ability to make informed repair decisions following company protocols
- Comfortable working in and around high voltage (up to 345 kV) electrical facilities and equipment
- Ability to forecast budgets
- Demonstrated leadership skills, self‑motivation, and interpersonal skills
Qualifications:
- Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college/university plus four or more years of engineering experience, or three or more years with a Fundamentals of Engineering certificate, or three or more years with a Master's Degree in Engineering - Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Fundamentals of Engineering certificate preferred; current, legally valid driver's license and meet the company's driving record requirements - Communication
Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents; write routine reports and correspondence, speeches, and presentations; speak effectively before customers, employees, and managers - Computer
Skills:
In‑depth knowledge of personal computers, including demonstrated proficiency with electrical engineering design programs and core office software - Analysis and Problem‑Solving Ability:
Apply common sense to complex instructions, deal with complex problems involving several variables in complicated situations - Physical Demands:
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, exposure to outside elements; lifting up to 50 lbs; crouching, bending, climbing, working at heights; protective equipment required (hard‑hat, safety glasses, hearing protection) - Work Environment:
