CAD Engineering Manager

Infinite Electronics Inc., a global supplier of electronics components and subassemblies, is seeking to fill a CAD Engineering Manager position. The CAD Engineering Manager's role is a leadership position that includes leading a team of CAD drafters & Engineering Change Management (aka ECM) specialists, ensuring that schedule requirements for new product drawings and models processed by the CAD Team are met, and interacting with customers, members of the product management team and other departments.

In addition, the CAD Engineering Manager ensures the support of legacy business with respect to CAD requirements including standard products, custom products, customer requested CAD and engineering change management. This position reports to the Director of Product Development and Engineering.

The CAD Engineering Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day assignments of the CAD group and generating metrics of group performance. The CAD Engineering Manager ensures that processes and procedures are strictly adhered to by direct reports. The CAD Engineering Manager oversees the planning, organizing, and controlling of the CAD creation in support of new products from initial stages of product conception to creating pristine drawings.

The CAD Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the CAD content through the product life cycle. Development and deployment of new processes in conjunction with the leadership may be required at times.

This person must demonstrate consistent and flawless performance, be highly dependable, schedule and task driven, proactive and be able to work under minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail, ability to follow through with multiple assignments and to receive, assimilate and relay technical information accurately are critical. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads the CAD team by orienting and training employees and developing personal growth opportunities. Active involvement in the departmental recruiting and hiring process
  • Leads the ECM Team in driving release of documentation and product life maintenance through Engineering Change Management processes and tools
  • Drives process improvements and efficiencies across the CAD engineering and Engineering Change Management teams
  • Owns the support and operation of all engineering software
  • Ensure technology requirements are up to date with the latest tools and software used in the industry
  • Collaborates with Product Development to provide the tools needed
  • Accomplishes staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; conducting training; implementing and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures
  • Responsible for assigning and monitoring work; gathering resources; establishing productivity standards; implementing new procedures and tracking key performance indicators for both CAD and ECM activities
  • Creates reports on team activities, productivity, and progress for both CAD and ECM
  • Supports annual / quarterly / monthly goals for new products
  • Uses company tools to track and manage work assignments
  • Participates in weekly Quality meetings

Key Requirements

  • 4-year degree technical degree (BSME or BSEE preferred).
  • 10 years of relevant CAD experience and a demonstrated dedication to high quality CAD work is acceptable in lieu of degree
  • 5-year experience in managing a CAD team
  • Business education or training highly desirable
  • Experience in creating, managing, and loading CAD files in the PDM Solidworks environment
  • Experience in Engineering Change Management process and tool
  • One year of practical electronics components experience
  • High level of computer proficiency – MS Office, SharePoint, Smartsheet, Internet
  • Experience in maintaining, tracking, and reporting metrics
  • Knowledge of ERP, Solidworks CAD tool and Product Database Management

Preferred Requirements

  • Proficient with Smartsheet
  • Additional languages (Spanish, Chinese)
  • Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) database
  • Familiar with Microsoft Dynamics NAV ("Navision") and Solidworks PDM
