Technologist Functions: Associate performs quality diagnostic procedures in an accurate and timely manner. Operates diagnostic equipment and processes images. Prepares patients’ procedure room, equipment, supplies and medication as indicated and delivers patient services using various imaging modalities. Practices proper radiation safety techniques on all exams performed. Maintains a safe environment for patients, visitors, staff and co‑workers. Supports and helps achieve departmental and hospital goals.
Lead Functions: Performs a variety of duties. Responsible for day‑to‑day operations of shift(s). Coordinates patient flow to and from Imaging Department. Assists medical staff when necessary. Ensures adequate staffing coverage of all shifts and ensures proper radiation safety precautions are followed. Observes and counsels employees regarding performance, conduct and attendance. Maintains supplies to a minimum and verifies patient billing daily. Assists in QIP program.
Provides services to all ages (infant – geriatric). Completes QA quarterly as required.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- (ARRT‑CT) Computed Tomography must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
- (ARRT‑R) Radiography
- Must possess MRT from Texas Medical Board
- Associate Degree
- Must have at least 1 year’s experience as an effective technologist
- Must be able to take a call restricted to a 30‑minute response time if applicable and work on hospital holidays
- Evaluates imaging services provided and maintains standards of quality
- Completes competency assessments and evaluations annually
- Leads associates with regard to work assignments, work area and standards of quality care
- Mediates individual problems and refers to Imaging Manager or Director any unresolved problems that require further attention (i.e. staffing morale, work ethics, discipline, safety, and other actions involving employees)
- Notifies service engineer of equipment malfunction in a timely manner and documents call
- Ensures that proper radiation safety protection is being practiced and exercised according to standard
- Maintains open line of communication with Imaging Manager, Director and direct reports
