CAD Engineer

Job Description

General Description: This position is responsible for providing design and manufacturing assistance in a team-oriented environment for the purpose of producing sheet metal products utilizing our Laser, Punch, Brake and other processes.

Reports to: CEO

Responsibilities:

• Design, Import CAD files, prepare drawings using Solid Works and generate in-house drawings from customer supplied drawings.
• Create nest and generate NC Code for Laser Cutting, Punching and Press Brake forming using CAM Software.
• Collaborate with Production Team to determine best method for fabricating the desired part. This brainstorming requires strong mechanical aptitude.
• Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
• Design is heavily in steel and aluminum.
• Complete required process steps into an ERP system to release drawings/job on the production floor.
• Change control and manage drawing database.

• Perform miscellaneous duties as the job requires or as assigned by management.
• Help in other departments as needed.

Minimum Education al

Qualifications:

• BS in Engineering required

Minimum Previous

Experience:

• 3 or more years in Solid Works, Nesting and Generating NC Code using CAD/CAM Software.
• 3 or more years in Sheet Metal Industry.
• Previous experience in mechanical drafting, manufacturing or other related fields.
• Familiar with an ERP System and MS Office Suite.

Other

Skills:

• Ability to understand and follow all instructions given.
• Familiarity with the use dial calipers, square and various measuring equipment.
• Keep the CAD/ CAM files organized
