Seeking a skilled Powder Coat Painter with 2-5 years of hands-on experience. Responsible for operating cone, disk, or nozzle-type electrostatic painting equipment to apply negatively charged paint particles onto positively charged work pieces. Duties include ensuring precise and high-quality coating applications.
- Rate: $21.00+ an hour
- Shift: Monday - Thursday 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- Prior experience with industrial painting, powder coat preferred;
High School degree or GED.
1. Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Start and control paint spraying equipment, conveyor systems, and current flow.
- Adjust valves, gauges, and pressure to control paint flow and spray patterns.
- Maintain temperature in paint tanks via thermostat adjustments.
- Operate hoists, forklifts, or power buggies safely to move products as needed.
- Clean and maintain paint line equipment, spray booths, and related machinery.
- Monitor and maintain paint booth filters and dust collection systems.
- Troubleshoot and correct powder flow issues.
- Open and close the powder booth and dust collection system.
- Prepare parts for painting, including hanging with proper spacing and hooks.
- Apply paint while maintaining consistency (2-5 mil thickness) and identifying color codes.
- Inspect painted items for runs, sags, and unpainted areas, making corrections as needed.
- De-hang and stack painted parts to avoid damage.
- Paint problem parts (e.g., mechanical frames, large fenders) with minimal repaints.
- Inspect and troubleshoot flaws in coating, readjusting pressure as necessary.
- Measure and maintain paint consistency using a viscometer.
- Monitor wet coat booth manometer and adjust as needed.
- Record waste water discharge and pH readings daily to maintain compliance.
- Plan daily paint schedules based on specifications.
- Step in for the Paint Lead when required, managing work assignments and addressing part or equipment issues.
- Train employees on painting techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
- Communicate professionally with team members, supervisors, and leads.
- Handle complaints and resolve issues, escalating to supervisors when necessary.
- Perform additional tasks assigned by supervisors.
- Ensure regular and predictable attendance.
- Follow safety protocols and handle equipment with care.
Technical and Mathematical Skills:
- Proficient in basic math: add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Ability to interpret bar graphs.
- Apply common sense to follow written, verbal, or diagram-based instructions.
- Handle problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
- Operate hand tools and air-powered tools effectively.
- Safely operate a hoist.
- Perform pH and chemical concentration level testing.
- Comfortable working alone in a paint booth for an entire 8 to 10-hour shift.
- Comfortable working in a non-climate control warehouse environment.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Stand on your feet for up to 8 to 10 hours a day in a fast-paced environment.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- May be exposed to various chemicals, such as weld gas, spatter spray, and cleaners.
- The noise level in the environment is loud, and hearing protection is required.
- Shift: Monday
- Thursday, 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM - Pay wage: $21.00+ an hour
