Registered Nurse, Pediatric Trauma – Seasonal

$55/ Hour

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient‑centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.”

The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests; anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
  • Teach patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, side effects, and follow‑up measures. Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
  • Teach patients/families/caregivers about non‑medicinal follow‑up measures such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and other lifestyle changes. Prepare patients and families/caregivers for future self‑management.
Qualifications
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) must be obtained within 18 months of employment start date.
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) must be obtained within 18 months of employment start date.
  • (RN) Registered Nurse.
  • Associate Degree, or Bachelor's Degree.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Program Requirements
  • All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.
  • You may be asked to float to another facility within a close geography that has an emergent staffing need.
  • Four weekend shifts are required each 4‑week schedule period.
  • During the 32‑week period, the employee is required to work two holiday shifts.
  • Seasonal staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call‑off. There are no guaranteed hours.
  • Seasonal staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses.
  • Registered Nurses in the seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation.
  • Current FT/PT & PRN employees are not eligible to join the Seasonal program for 2026–27, except RNs that participated in the previous year.
  • Current employees of HWS are not eligible for the seasonal program.
  • Shifts may vary based on department needs.
