RN ICU Seasonal (Days or Nights)
Medical City Lewisville – $62 per hour plus differentials. Program runs September 20, 2026 – April 3, 2027. Seasonal position with a minimum of 72 hours per pay period, minimum of four weekend shifts per 4‑week schedule, and two holiday shifts per 32‑week period.
Job Summary and QualificationsThe Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered care in accordance with department requirements and relevant state and specialty standards. In collaboration with medical providers and other team members, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical provider(s); documenting care administration in a timely and thorough manner.
- Teaching patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, status, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow‑up measures; translating complex terminology for full understanding.
- Providing non‑medicinal follow‑up education, such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes; preparing patients and caregivers for future self‑management.
- Managing evidence‑based practices and continuous process improvement initiatives to meet and exceed quality measures and enhance exceptional care.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver a holistic patient treatment plan that promotes recovery.
- All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.
- Within a close geography, staff may be asked to float to another facility with emergent staffing needs.
- Four weekend shifts are required each 4‑week schedule period.
- During the 32‑week period, employees are required to work two holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee).
- Seasonal staff are PRN status employees, subject to first call‑off with no guaranteed hours.
- Seasonal staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND or D2/ECD).
- Seasonal registered nurses have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation.
- Current full‑time, part‑time, and PRN employees are not eligible to join the seasonal program for 2026‑27, except for RNs who participated in the previous year.
- Current employees of HWS are not eligible for the seasonal program.
- Shift patterns may vary based on department needs.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Associate degree in nursing.
- At least one year of acute‑care hospital experience.
- Comprehensive medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, behavioral health, and telemedicine coverage.
