Harmon, Inc. POSITION DESCRIPTION
You are responsible for ensuring that all fabrication, assembly, and glazing operations produce curtain wall components that meet design, dimensional, and aesthetic requirements. Act as the front‑line authority for product quality, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and customer standards throughout the manufacturing process.
Daily OperationsManage daily operations on the shop floor including leading inspectors, enforcing process controls, resolving nonconformances, and driving continuous improvement to reduce rework and scrap.
Quality Assurance & Quality ControlManage and sustain the quality assurance and quality control plan for sites and projects. Serve as the site quality metric owner and key quality partner and liaison between operations, field, manufacturing, and engineering.
Experience- Preferred:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Quality - Minimum 5+ years in manufacturing quality – ideally curtain wall, façade, precision fabrication, or assembly, or ETO
- At least 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of mechanical inspection methods, tolerances, and finishes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other QMS standards
- Lean/Six Sigma experience preferred
Lead and manage all quality functions across multiple curtain wall manufacturing sites. Develop and implement site‑wide quality strategies, systems, and SOPs. Establish clear quality expectations, metrics, and accountability. Drive a culture focused on quality, continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
Team Leadership & DevelopmentDirectly supervise Quality Leads and Technicians across facilities. Set performance expectations, provide coaching, training, and accountability. Conduct audits of performance and documentation accuracy. Develop training programs and certification processes. Partner with operations to reinforce ownership and accountability for product quality.
Manufacturing Quality OversightOversee incoming, in‑process, and final inspection activities for curtain wall systems and components. Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, glazing requirements, and customer standards. Monitor production to identify risks and defects. Partner with production and engineering to implement corrective actions. Drive root‑cause analysis using structured problem‑solving. Ensure non‑conforming materials are identified, segregated, documented, and dispositioned. Support implementation of quality control plans, inspection checkpoints, and testing requirements.
ContinuousImprovement
Analyze quality data and performance metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities. Lead initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, warranty issues, and customer complaints. Implement Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices. Develop and track KPIs such as first‑pass yield, defect rates, rework and scrap costs, customer complaints, audit findings, corrective action closure rates. Partner cross‑functionally to improve workflow efficiency and consistency.
Audits, Compliance & DocumentationEnsure compliance with internal quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations. Lead internal audits and support customer, third‑party, and regulatory audits. Maintain quality documentation including inspection records, corrective actions, deviation reports, and audit findings. Provide accurate and timely reporting of quality performance metrics. Support document control processes and revision management.
Customer & Supplier QualityAct as primary escalation point for significant customer quality concerns. Coordinate investigations and corrective actions related to customer complaints and field quality issues. Partner with supply chain and purchasing to address supplier quality and incoming material performance. Participate in supplier evaluations and quality improvement initiatives.
