POSITION SUMMARYThe Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products meet established quality standards and specifications. This position performs inspections, documents results, identifies defects or nonconformities, and works closely with production, warehouse, and engineering teams to maintain consistent quality and compliance with company and customer requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform visual and dimensional inspections on materials, parts, and finished goods using established standards, drawings, and specifications.
- Document inspection findings accurately and maintain detailed records of results in quality management or ERP systems.
- Verify conformance of materials received against purchase orders and supplier documentation.
- Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming materials; assist with root cause analysis and corrective action follow-up.
- Conduct in-process inspections of Samples/Prototypes and production runs to ensure adherence to specifications and process controls.
- Support final inspection activities prior to shipment, ensuring accuracy of labeling, counts, and packaging quality.
- Communicate inspection results clearly to supervisors, leads, and cross-functional teams to address quality issues promptly.
- Participate in calibration, equipment verification, and maintenance of inspection tools and measurement devices.
- Assist in the implementation and continuous improvement of quality procedures and visual standards.
- Promote and uphold company quality and safety policies at all times.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
This position does not have direct reports.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS- Knowledge of quality inspection methods, measurement tools (calipers, tape measures, gauges), and sampling techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail, recordkeeping accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills for cross-functional coordination and reporting of quality issues.
- Problem-solving and analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and quality documentation (Excel, ERP, or QMS systems).
- Knowledge of ISO or quality system principles preferred.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all operational and OSHA guidelines.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum 2 years of experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, or production environment.
Experience with basic measurement tools and inspection documentation required.
Familiarity with ISO 9001, Lean manufacturing principles, Lean Six Sigma or Six Sigma production methodologies preferred.
Familiarity with ERP or quality management systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP, or similar) preferred.
Bilingual in English & Spanish a plus
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS- Must be willing to travel 10-20% for travel to Inspection Points being factories or other specified locations that could be out of town.
- Must be able to work in hot and cold climates.
- Varying work schedules based on business need are sometimes required.
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear.
- Must have a valid driver s license.
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard.
- Ability to read a variety of materials.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to carry and lift materials up to 25 lbs.
