Summary
The QA/QC Specialist is responsible for inspecting and verifying formwork, rebar, PT, and embedded items before concrete placement on structural projects. This role ensures all elements meet project specifications, drawings, and quality standards. The ideal candidate combines technical knowledge of concrete construction with a strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to field quality assurance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-pour inspections of formwork, rebar, PT, embeds, and blockouts to verify compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Review construction drawings, shop drawings, and specifications to confirm field installations meet design intent.
- Assist project team with reviewing project drawings and specifications to identify potential RFI’s.
- Review formwork drawings and ensure formwork installation compliance.
- Work closely with superintendents, foremen, and field crews to identify and correct deficiencies before concrete placement.
- Document inspection results through checklists, photos, and reports; maintain clear and organized quality records.
- Verify that materials and components (rebar, embeds, etc.) meet project requirements and have proper certifications.
- Coordinate with engineers, QA/QC management, and clients for pre-pour and post-pour sign-offs.
- Support continuous improvement by providing feedback on recurring issues and recommending corrective actions.
- Monitor concrete pour activities as needed to ensure placement and finishing follow approved procedures.
- Promote adherence to company safety policies and quality standards on every job site.

Required Experience, Education, and Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in concrete construction, with at least 2 years in a QA/QC or inspection role.
- Hands-on experience with cast-in-place concrete, formwork systems, and rebar and PT installation.
- Familiarity with ACI, ASTM, PTI, and project-specific quality standards.
- Knowledge of blueprint reading, tolerances, and inspection documentation practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in the field.
- Solid understanding of formwork layout, rebar detailing, PT detailing, and embed placement.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with field crews and engineers.
- Proficient in using tablets, digital forms, or field inspection software for reporting.
- Ability to work outdoors in a construction environment and manage multiple inspections daily.
- Valid driver’s license
- Must have reliable transportation to the workplace(s)/ job location(s).
- Ability to successfully pass a background check related to driving.
- Ability to pass drug screening.
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.
Preferred education and experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred. - Knowledge of all phases of concrete and building construction
- Exceptionally strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to negotiate, resolve conflict, and deal effectively with all internal and external stakeholders professionally and respectfully.
- Strong organizational skills to manage and prioritize multiple urgent initiatives.
