Job Title
Performs general maintenance tasks on water, sewer, streets, parks and/or drainage facility areas of assigned responsibility; operates and maintains equipment as needed.

- Performs general maintenance such as grounds and facilities maintenance; street and sidewalk repair; drainage ditches and storm drains; sewer and water lines; recreational and playground equipment; street and traffic signs.
- Prepares equipment, vehicles, and tools for work assignments.
- Performs repair work such as general carpentry, janitorial duties, minor maintenance on equipment, etc. as needed.
- Cleans and services equipment as needed.
- Responds to calls as required outside normal business hours. May be subject to 24 hour call out.
- Assists other crew members and co-workers as assigned.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to supervise others and utilize resources to complete assigned tasks independently.
- Must maintain vehicles to District standards.
- Must follow District safety requirements.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Skill in the proper use of hand tools and operation of equipment for assigned work areas such as operating equipment, pumps, mowers, tractors, post hole diggers, utility system equipment, etc.
Ability to follow instructions, safety practices, and standard operating procedures in performing assigned tasks.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor and to work in adverse weather conditions, confined spaces, and extreme heights when needed.
Ability to meet training requirements.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
Knowledge in Confined Space Safety and all safety procedures.
Knowledge on operating District equipment (i.e. backhoe, bobcat certification preferred).
Experience in any of the following:
- Water distribution systems
- Wastewater collection
- Storm water collection
- Streets maintenance
- Parks maintenance
Ability to learn to operate a field computer.
Ability to effectively communicate with staff and with the public.
Ability to follow District rules, regulations, and policies.
Ability to work a two-way radio/cellular(smart) phone.
Education:
High School diploma or GED.
Experience:
Three years experience in related field.
No felony convictions.
Required to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
Pre-employment physical will be required.
Must possess a valid State of Texas Class "C" Driver's License (background check performed).
Must possess grade "C" Texas Water Distribution license or Waste Water Collections II license or acquire within one year of employment.
