Responsibilities & Expectations

As a Senior Field Service Technician, you'll perform testing and maintenance on low-, medium-, and high-voltage power distribution equipment for commercial and industrial customers. You'll also help lead and support field crews as needed.

Testing and Calibration

  • Instrument transformer testing
  • Power transformer testing (Doble, insulation resistance, transformer turns ratio)
  • Cable testing including power factor, tan delta, VLF, and hipot
  • Circuit breaker and switch gear testing (low, medium, and high voltage)
  • Primary and secondary injection testing
  • Protective relay testing (electromechanical and solid-state)
  • Continuity and ground fault testing
  • Power quality analysis

Field Work

  • Troubleshoot, inspect, start up, and collect data on switch gear, circuit breakers, cables, transformers, protective relays, VFDs, and ATS systems
  • Perform inspections, diagnose issues, replace components, make repair recommendations, and recommission equipment

Safety

  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices

Team & Customer Interaction

  • Support teammates and contribute to a strong team environment
  • Communicate clearly with customers, explaining issues and solutions in a way that's easy to understand

Documentation

  • Complete accurate service reports and documentation
  • Perform work in accordance with NETA or NICET standards, as required
Qualifications and Competencies

- 5+ years of relevant electrical testing experience

- Comfortable using industry testing equipment such as meggers, digital multimeters, hi-pot testers, oil dielectric strength testers, relay test sets, primary and secondary injection equipment, cable fault detectors, and oscilloscopes

- At least 3 years of driving experience with a valid, unrestricted driver's license

- Strong communication and customer service skills

- Ability to read and understand schematics, manuals, and safety procedures

- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and on-call rotations
