Job Summary

Integrity Staffing Solutions is seeking a safety-focused and dependable Yard Jockey to support daily warehouse and transportation operations within a private, self-contained facility yard. The Yard Jockey is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers, yard equipment, and company assets between dock doors, staging areas, and assigned yard locations.

Pay and Shift: Mon - Fri 8am - 4:30pm, 22/hr

This position operates exclusively on private facility property. There is no public roadway, highway, over-the-road, or overnight driving required.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities) Yard & Trailer Operations
  • Safely move trailers and company equipment throughout the facility yard as directed by Operations, Transportation, and Warehouse leadership
  • Spot trailers accurately at dock doors, staging areas, and designated yard locations
  • Pull trailers from dock doors only after confirming all required safety and release procedures have been completed
  • Stage trailers to dock doors in alignment with operational needs and dock assignments
  • Maintain constant awareness of yard traffic, pedestrians, dock activity, and equipment movement
  • Operate yard truck/yard goat/hostler/yard tractor in accordance with company safety standards
  • Follow all trailer docking and releasing procedures, including required Trailer Dock Release coordination
  • Maintain safe speeds, use horn signals as required, and stop for pedestrians or unsafe yard conditions
Equipment Inspections & Safety
  • Complete pre-shift inspections of the yard truck prior to beginning trailer moves
  • Inspect key equipment components (brakes, steering, tires, lights, mirrors, horn, backup alarm, fifth wheel, air lines, electrical connections, and fuel/charge level)
  • Perform visual trailer inspections before coupling (landing gear, tires, rear doors, trailer frame, undercarriage, and visible damage)
  • Confirm trailers are safe to move before coupling or relocating
  • Perform proper coupling/uncoupling procedures (fifth wheel lock confirmation, air line + electrical connection, landing gear operation, tug test)
  • Report unsafe equipment, trailer damage, defects, near-misses, incidents, or yard hazards immediately
  • Remove unsafe equipment from operation when required and notify the appropriate supervisor/manager
Communication & Coordination
  • Communicate clearly with Dock Clerks, Dock Supervisors, Transportation, Warehouse, and Operations teams
  • Confirm trailer number, origin, and destination prior to each move
  • Notify the appropriate team member when each move is complete
  • Escalate blocked doors, damaged trailers, unclear instructions, equipment issues, or safety concerns before proceeding
  • Use a two-way radio throughout the shift and maintain professional radio communication
  • Serve as a key liaison between Transportation and Warehouse teams to support trailer flow, dock availability, and operational priorities
Compliance & Yard Safety
  • Follow all company yard safety policies, OSHA-aligned safety practices, and site-specific procedures
  • Wear required PPE (high-visibility safety vest and safety-toe footwear)
  • Carry and monitor an active, charged radio while working in the yard
  • Yield to pedestrians at all times and maintain safe separation from people, vehicles, trailers, dock doors, and fixed structures
  • Use a ground guide when required or when visibility is obstructed
  • Stop work and notify management immediately in the event of an incident, near‑miss, collision, equipment damage, or unsafe condition
What You’ll Need (Required Qualifications)
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL

    A)
  • Active/current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate (Medical Card)
  • Prior experience operating commercial vehicles, yard trucks, yard goats, hostlers, or similar equipment
  • Ability to safely couple, move, spot, and uncouple trailers in a yard/warehouse environment
  • Ability to complete required Trailer Docking and Releasing Safety Program upon hire
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification on Pacer and Electric Pallet Jack equipment (including single/double pallet jack operation)
  • Strong understanding of yard safety, trailer movement, backing procedures, dock operations, and equipment inspections
