HERACLES Group, Greece's leading company in the field of building materials and a member of HOLCIM, is seeking a dynamic Senior Accountant to join our Finance function, based at our Head Offices.
Role & Key AccountabilitiesThe purpose of the role is to ensure the accurate and timely recording and monitoring of accounting transactions, support monthly and year-end closing activities, and maintain the accuracy and completeness of accounting records in line with applicable accounting standards and the company’s internal policies and procedures.
The position reports to the Accounting Manager and works closely with other Finance functions.
- Manage the full accounting cycle, including General Ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Participate in the month-end and year-end closing process.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, provisions, and other General Ledger accounting entries.
- Perform General Ledger account reconciliations and support the investigation and resolution of discrepancies.
- Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions.
- Support the preparation of financial statements and management reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency.
- Support the preparation of information and documentation for tax audits and the annual audit of the Group’s financial statements.
- Participate in the improvement and automation of accounting processes.
- Deliver ad hoc requests and participate in special projects when requested.
- Ensure compliance with myDATA requirements and regulations.
- Collaborate closely with the Shared Services Center (SSC) to support accounting processes and resolve issues.
- Provide accounting support and assistance to the Fixed Assets and Inventory Accountant.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Master's degree will be considered an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a senior accounting role.
- Proven experience in preparing complete financial statements.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, local tax legislation, and accounting best practices.
- Proficiency in SAP ERP system.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, ACA) will be considered an asset.
- Strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proactive approach to process improvement.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team.
