Tax Manager

The Sales & Use Tax Accountant is responsible for ensuring compliance with state and local sales and use tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions. This role manages tax filings, conducts tax research, supports audits, and partners with accounting and operational teams to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance.

• Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns.
• Research state and local tax regulations and monitor legislative changes that may impact the organization.
• Review transactions for proper sales and use tax treatment and identify potential compliance issues.
• Analyze exemption certificates and maintain supporting documentation.
• Respond to tax notices, inquiries, and requests from taxing authorities.
• Assist with sales and use tax audits, including gathering documentation and supporting schedules.
• Reconcile sales tax payable accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate tax records and filing calendars.
• Support business license renewals and other indirect tax compliance requirements.
• Partner with accounting, finance, operations, and external advisors on tax-related matters.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance tax compliance and efficiency.
• Assist with special projects and other tax-related responsibilities as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years of sales and use tax, indirect tax, or general tax experience preferred.
• Knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax regulations.
• Experience with tax research and tax compliance software.
• Strong Excel skills and proficiency with accounting systems/ERP platforms.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• CPA or CPA-eligible preferred.
• Experience with Vertex, Avalara, One Source, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar tax/accounting systems.
• Experience supporting state and local tax audits.
• Knowledge of property tax, business licenses, or other indirect taxes.
