POSITION
The VITA Program Support Specialist provides operational and administrative support to the VITA program to strengthen volunteer recruitment, employer-based drop-off services, and filing season operations. The position is intentionally front-loaded to support peak tax season activity and transitions to reduced hours later in the year to support volunteer engagement, planning, and coordination activities. This role supports—but does not replace—the volunteer-based tax preparation model.
Responsibilities- Support volunteer recruitment and onboarding, including coordination of background checks, training logistics, and communications.
- Assist with employer-based drop-off site coordination, including scheduling, document tracking, and follow-up.
- Support virtual and in-person appointment workflows, including intake, appointment coordination, and administrative follow-up.
- Assist with tax site administration tasks, including the collection and tracking of required IRS documentation and materials.
- Support quality assurance and administrative processes to ensure compliance with IRS VITA Quality Site Requirements.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of taxpayer and volunteer information.
- Provide general program support to ensure continuity of services during peak filing season.
- Adheres to IRS Code of Conduct and confidentiality requirements.
- Volunteers remain the primary tax preparers at all times.
- This position provides administrative and coordination support only and does not function as a stand-alone tax preparer role.

RequirementsEducation Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in social work, business, organizational management, or related field preferred.
Experience required:
- Minimum of 1-3 years related experience in customer service, health and human service, non-profit, administrative support or other related field preferred or sufficient combination of education and experience. Familiarity with VITA tax preparation is strongly desired. Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office, and reliable transportation are necessary.
Qualifications
- Experience in program coordination, administrative support, customer service, or nonprofit operations preferred.
- Familiarity with VITA programs or community-based service delivery strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information.
- Basic computer proficiency.
