Substitute Teacher / Substitute Aide Positions

Thank you for your interest in substituting with the ESC of the Western Reserve! We maintain a licensed Substitute list for districts in Geauga County and districts in Lake County. We partner with Renhill Group to provide substitutes for our special education programs.

Per state law, to be a substitute teacher you must hold at least a bachelor's (4-year) degree; to be a substitute educational aide you must hold a high school diploma.

Note: After April 15th of each year, all applications received for substitute opportunities will be considered for the next school year.

Substitute teacher: hold at least a bachelor's (4-year) degree.
Substitute educational aide: hold a high school diploma.

Application Process

Print and complete the required documents.

Scan and email completed documents to the receptionist at receptionist or mail them to the receptionist at ESC of the Western Reserve: 8221 Auburn Career Center, Painesville, OH, 44077 – with attention:
Receptionist.

Provide a copy of the front of your driver's license to the receptionist.

Background check services are by appointment only; call x 1703.

Your social security number is required to process the background check.

Bring a valid form of ; expired not be accepted. Valid IDs include Driver's License, State I.D., or Passport.

Additional Notes

If you are a classified applicant interested in open positions in a Lake County school district, or you do not see a district listed on our Preference Checklist that you are interested in, please contact that school district directly.

If you have not been a substitute for the ESC of the Western Reserve in the past 12 months, you are considered a new applicant.
