The Ohio Attorney General's Office is currently seeking an experienced individual for a Clerk 2 vacancy in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) Section, London Ohio office. This role reports to the London location daily. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation, known as BCI, is the state’s official crime lab serving the criminal justice community and protecting Ohio families. BCI also provides expert criminal investigative services to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies upon request.
With offices throughout the state, BCI stands ready to respond 24/7 to local law enforcement agencies’ needs at no cost to the requesting agency.
Staff at BCI work every day to provide the highest level of service. This includes special agents who are on call 24/7 to offer investigative assistance at crime scenes, knowledgeable scientists and forensic specialists using cutting‑edge technology to process evidence to bring criminals to justice, and criminal intelligence analysts and identification specialists who help local law enforcement solve cases. Experienced special agents, forensic scientists, and other law enforcement experts staff BCI’s three main divisions:
1) Identifications
2) Investigations and
3) Laboratory.
- Under the general supervision of the Identification Supervisor, the Clerk 2 performs general clerical tasks in the mailroom, front desk, and file room at the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI)
- Maintains files of receipts from mailings and mailing lists for law enforcement agencies (e.g., overnight mail, certified mail, UPS)
- Provides information to employees at BCI concerning mailing procedures
- Operates personal computer to enter and retrieve data into division databases
- Performs other clerical tasks: counts, alphabetizes, separates, collates, codes, files, sorts and distributes records
- Operates mail sorting machine
- Assists in sorting, picking up, distributing and/or sending out mail to appropriate sections, offices or post office
- Prepares Express and/or UPS letters and packages
- Labels, folds and/or staples materials
- Acts as receptionist (e.g., greets and registers visitors; answers and routes calls; pages employees)
- Types various materials
- Operates personal computer as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
