The University of Kentucky is seeking a Student Affairs Officer I to join our team to support graduate student academic success. This position provides direct support to students through managing the administrative affairs of the College of Education's graduate students. This role plays a critical part in fulfilling student requests that comprise a wide range of academic needs and concerns.
You will assist student understanding and compliance on Graduate School policies and procedures through maintaining regular communication with students via individual emails, reminders, and announcements. You will work in cooperation with the Graduate School on behalf of students to streamline communication and to network with the Office of Admission and Recruitment, Finance and Funding, Professional Enhancement, and Academic Services. In addition, this role is vital in providing direct support and advisement to the college's Directors of Graduate Studies.
The team of Student Affairs Officers serves eight Directors of Graduate Studies across six departments.
- Manage, advise, and fulfill the academic administrative needs of the College's graduate students across various academic programs and within multiple departments.
- Contribute administratively to graduate student success from the time of program application through the awarding of degrees.
- Work in cooperation with the Graduate School on behalf of students to assist with and resolve academic needs and concerns.
- Assist students with understanding and complying with Graduate School policies, procedures, and deadlines.
- Provide direct administrative support to several of the college's Directors of Graduate Studies.
- Assist with managing the admissions processes for several programs.
- Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and academic leaders.
- Experience working with students in a higher education or related environment.
- Excellent written, spoken, and interpersonal communication skills.
