Position: SOFSA Inventory Management Technician SME Lexington, KY Posted today

The Inventory Management Support Technician is responsible for performing comprehensive inventory control, accountability, validation, and audit functions in support of Department of Defense (DoD) and USSOCOM policies. This role conducts detailed analysis to identify root causes of inventory discrepancies, ensures compliance with federal regulations, and supports program sustainment through logistics systems management. The technician collaborates closely with Government Inventory Managers to maintain accurate, compliant, and audit-ready inventory records.

Responsibilities
  • Conducts complex research, analysis, and identification of root causes for discrepancies in inventory stock levels.

  • Cross-references DoD regulations, policies, and guidelines to develop and implement corrective process narratives suitable for post-secondary education levels.

  • Performs full-spectrum inventory control, accountability, and validation processes in accordance with:

  • DoD 5000.64

  • DoD 4140 series regulations

  • USSOCOM Policy Directive 700-32 for processing material into the Accountable Property System of Record (APSR).

  • Conducts validation and audits of material movement and acceptance into the APSR ensuring compliance with Financial Improvement Audit Readiness (FIAR) / Remediation requirements.

  • Verifies shipment accuracy including serviceability, document numbers, nomenclature, National Stock Numbers (NSN), and quantities.

  • Assesses ordering, tracking, delivery timelines, and shipping requirements to maintain on-time material delivery.

  • Performs periodic physical inventories, location surveys, and monthly self-assessment audits within ELMS.

  • Establishes and maintains comprehensive inventory/material receiving and shipping records and audit-trail documents.

  • Monitors inventory levels and reports discrepancies to the Government Inventory Manager.

  • Uses the full capability of the Microsoft Office Suite to manage workload requirements and produce administrative work products.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of combined experience with the Department of Defense or other federal agencies in Financial Management, Program Management, and Logistics.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience serving as a program or project lead supporting implementation and sustainment activities.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience operating within a Logistics Information System (LIS).

  • Preferred:

    Forklift License.

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Secret Clearance required on Day One of performance.

  • Inventory Management Support Team personnel may be required to work non-standard hours.

This position is contingent upon contract award and funding. Applicants selected may be offered the position; however, they cannot begin work until the contract has been awarded and funding has been confirmed.
