Summary of ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Superintendent aids in directing subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and foremen of a specific construction project. The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for helping to maintain project schedule and managing the jobsite workforce to ensure an orderly flow of work, sequence of operation, and quality.
Responsibilities and Duties- Uphold and represent all company values and ethics. Maintain a high degree of integrity and loyalty toward the Company and client.
- Assist in managing the field and project management team successfully and collaboratively.
- Maintain and update project records including RFIs and as‑builts.
- Assist Superintendent with weekly coordination meetings with subcontractor foremen/project managers to outline requirements of work completion, and other issues as may be required including but not limited to manpower, schedule, sequence of work and inspections.
- In collaboration with Superintendent, provide daily reports on company provided software to include photos, manpower, activities performed, delays, JHAs, material deliveries and weather conditions.
- In collaboration with Superintendent provide weekly report and four‑week look‑ahead schedule to project management team by end of the day on Thursdays.
- Participate with initiating RFIs to project manager addressing issues with interpretation of plans and specifications, missing information, incorrect details, incomplete information, and other issues that require the direction of the Architect and Engineer.
- Responsible for quality control in monitoring the work and its adherence to the construction documents and project requirements.
- Assist with performing material inventory / audit of all company, subcontractor and owner supplied materials.
- Assist with proactively identifying and rectifying potential punch list items. Once formal punch list is issued, it is the superintendent’s responsibility to hold subcontractors accountable for completion of punch list in a timely manner.
- Thoroughly understand responsibilities and duties. Hold yourself and subcontractors accountable daily.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Ensure job processes are followed in accordance with company policy and procedures.
- Proactively forecast and communicate schedule conflicts that may impact project completion.
- Assist Superintendent with managing job site safety, quality, and schedule.
- Ensure Company standards of quality and safety are adhered to.
- Work collaboratively with superintendent, project management team and subcontractors.
- A minimum of two to three (2-3) years of commercial building construction experience required.
- Basic understanding of the general construction and subcontract documents, drawings and specifications, construction means, methods and materials.
- Knowledge of construction cost control and basic accounting procedures.
- Computer skills and a familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs.
- Intermediate management, leadership and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
- Ground‑up retail construction experience a plus.

- Travel involved:
Must be able to travel full‑time (licensed in 48 states). - All work‑related fuel covered by the company credit card.
