Base pay range

$70,000.00/yr - $/yr

Job Summary

The Excavation Estimator will gather and analyze data to estimate and allocate costs for current and proposed excavation jobsites.

Responsibilities
  • Follows Mission, Vision, Values
  • Completes project estimates including earthwork and utility takeoff
  • Meets and collaborates with all involved (clients/management) in proposed projects to understand the needs of the project and scope of work
  • Contacts subcontractors and vendors for accurate and best pricing
  • Creates and submits bid packages
  • Completes scope reviews including front-end documents, addendums, plan sheets changes, and bid clarifications
  • Reviews site online or in person to assess issues
  • Completes bid forms, bid letters, proposals appropriately and completely
  • Provides all requested breakdowns, allowances, labor rates, unit prices, and alternates
  • Builds client relationships
  • Follow up with clients on proposal status
  • Transfer estimate to a project in Pro Contractor
  • Creates purchase orders post award
  • Assist in submittal process
  • Conducts transition meetings to convey all estimating information to leadership team
  • Participates in all post-project evaluation meetings to determine “lesson Learned” for future projects
Required Skills / Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, Pro Contractor, Blue Beam and Blue Prints (Construction Drawings)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong math skills
  • Understanding the process of earthwork and utility installation
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Strong ability to remain flexible in job hours worked as specific assignments change
  • Strong negotiation and problem‑solving skills
Education and Experience
  • Valid Drivers License or State
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Building Science, Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent on-the-job experience
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to traverse different types of worksites and bend, climb, stretch, and reach
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull 50-pound loads at a time
  • Must be able to work in a variety of environments including but not limited to concrete, dirt, fumes, and loud noise levels
  • Must be able to work long hours and Saturdays when needed
