Estimator – Concrete Construction

Location:

Carroll, Ohio

Job Type: Full‑Time

Base Pay Range: $75,000 – $90,000 per year (Competitive, based on experience, plus performance‑based bonus potential)

Position Summary

The Estimator will develop accurate cost estimates for commercial concrete projects, including site concrete, structural concrete, and excavation. Responsibilities include plan review, quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and pricing strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for excavation, backfill, footings, slabs, piers, walls, and site concrete.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor work.
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and bid documents to ensure a complete scope of work.
  • Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to execution.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities to optimize project costs while maintaining quality.
  • Prepare and submit bid forms, proposals, cost breakdowns, and alternative pricing options.
  • Maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Stay informed on market trends, labor costs, and material pricing.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients, GCs, and trade partners during the bid process.
  • Participate in pre‑bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions and challenges.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with GCs, owners, and developers to secure new opportunities.
  • Present estimates and project proposals to internal teams and clients.
  • Support business development efforts by providing market insights and competitor analysis.
  • Utilize estimating and bid management software (Pro Contractor, On‑Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Building Connected).
  • Implement best practices for bid tracking, historical cost analysis, and process efficiency.
  • Support the integration of new technology and data‑driven estimating strategies.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience in concrete estimating (commercial, industrial, multi‑family preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of concrete construction, formwork systems, and reinforcing techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, and estimating software.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong mathematical skills, attention to detail, and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for subcontractor and supplier coordination.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to visit project sites.
Preferred
  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project) and bid platforms.
  • Certification in Estimating or Preconstruction (CPE, LEED AP).
  • Prior experience in a business development or client‑facing role.
