Position Summary
Gray Construction is seeking a Construction Project Executive with significant distribution or industrial construction experience. Located in Lexington, Kentucky.
Key Responsibilities- Project Administration:
Facilitate meetings, track action items, maintain meeting minutes, monitor submittal reviews, and visit project sites regularly. - Financial Success:
Monitor budget/costs, develop corrective actions, manage financials, oversee purchasing, issue change orders, and maintain red files. - Schedule Performance:
Develop and maintain the master schedule, assess progress, document delays, coordinate with Field Ops, A/E, and MEP, and produce necessary notices. - Risk Management:
Understand contractual terms, develop risk plans, monitor and mitigate risks, and coordinate risk management with the project team. - Relationship Management:
Serve as the primary customer contact, create relationship plans, maintain communication channels with customers, subcontractors, and consultants. - Team Member Development:
Mentor and train project staff, support the company's vision, core values, and mission, and ensure adequate training. - Collaboration:
Maintain a cooperative environment among engineering, design, and construction staff, and communicate regularly with other Project Executives and responsible directors.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or a minimum of ten years related experience; or an equivalent combination.
- Minimum of seven consecutive years of total profit and loss accountability on multiple projects.
- Minimum of five years experience managing all disciplines of design/build projects or hard bid projects for the market served.
- Experience in all contracting methods such as lump sum, GMP, cost‑plus construction management, and fee‑based construction; understanding of contractual legal aspects.
- Proven record in increasing project profitability from the initial margin on multiple projects.
- Knowledgeable in technical aspects of engineering and design disciplines to represent Gray as the primary point of contact in initial project discussions.
- Experience managing projects with process or production equipment procurement/installation exceeding two million dollars.
- Mentoring experience for senior project managers, project managers, and assistant project managers.
- Experience in developing aggressive schedules and preparing cost estimates for design/build projects in the industrial arena.
- Ability to maintain harmonious relationships with owners, vendors, suppliers, and community stakeholders.
