Job Summary

The University of Kentucky is seeking a dependable, experienced, and customer-focused Parking Control Attendant Senior to support safe, efficient, and accessible parking operations across campus and UK Health Care facilities. This role serves as a key resource in enforcing parking regulations, providing exceptional customer service, supporting daily parking operations, training staff, and assisting with specialized equipment and technology. The Senior Parking Control Attendant helps maintain compliance with university parking policies, enhances the campus experience, and provides guidance and support to students, employees, patients, visitors, and guests.

What

You Will Do
  • Enforce university parking regulations by verifying parking permits, issuing citations, and taking appropriate action on parking violations.
  • Immobilize and impound vehicles as authorized while ensuring compliance with university regulations, safety requirements, and applicable procedures.
  • Monitor parking areas, structures, entrances, and traffic flow to promote safe and efficient parking operations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by assisting employees, patients, visitors, and guests with parking information, directions, safety guidance, and general campus assistance.
  • Respond to motorist assistance requests and vehicle-related concerns in a timely, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Operate two-way radios, parking enforcement software, handheld citation devices, and other technology used to support daily parking operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of UK Health Care and campus parking operations, policies, procedures, bicycle regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Perform routine inspections of parking gate equipment and access control systems; troubleshoot minor issues and communicate more complex concerns to supervisors.
  • Support the maintenance and operation of parking equipment.
  • Perform equipment reprogramming, access control/security programming, and routine facility upkeep activities, including curb painting and other assigned maintenance tasks.
  • Process parking payments, prepare daily cash reports, complete cash register close-out procedures, and follow UK Cash Handling policies for the secure handling and transportation of funds.
  • Operate specialized equipment, including vehicle immobilization devices, emergency response equipment, battery chargers, hydraulic lock cutters, university vehicles, and other operational tools.
  • Train new employees on parking enforcement procedures, policies, equipment operation, and daily responsibilities.
  • Provide leadership support by assisting with staff coordination during special events or in the absence of the supervisor.
  • Perform additional duties, special assignments, and operational support tasks as required.
What You Will Bring
  • Knowledge of parking enforcement practices, university parking regulations, bicycle policies, traffic procedures, and safety standards.
  • Experience providing professional customer service and communicating effectively with employees, patients, visitors, students, guests, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies consistently while exercising sound judgment in enforcement and customer service situations.
  • Knowledge and experience operating parking enforcement technology, access control systems, citation equipment, payment systems, and related operational tools.
  • Understanding of cash-handling procedures, payment processing systems, and financial accountability requirements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues, perform routine inspections, and identify when additional support is needed.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and training skills with the ability to provide guidance to coworkers and new employees.
