Job SummaryThe University of Kentucky College of Medicine Department of Pediatrics is seeking a faculty member (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) to serve in General Pediatrics. This will be as a Complex Care provider for ages 2 and up, following graduation from the Infant Complex Care Clinic or when referred by another specialist or community pediatrician. Children will be followed throughout childhood and adolescence until transferred into adult care.
Pediatricians with fellowship training or prior experience in Pediatric Complex Care, Palliative Care or Critical Care preferred, but all pediatricians are welcome to apply that have a nexus to long‑term treatment and coordination of care for children with medical complexity. The applicant will follow medically complex patients in clinic as well as provide consultation when admitted to the hospital. Requests for consultation of new patients will come from the Pediatric floor, PICU, PCICU and other pediatric subspecialty clinics.
In clinic, the applicant will be part of a multidisciplinary team that includes a neonatologist, APP, psychologist, PT, OT, dietician, licensed clinical social worker, and patient navigator. Plans for development of multidisciplinary clinics (e.g., BPD/home ventilation, Pulmonary Hypertension, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Downs Syndrome) are underway. Depending on experience, the applicant will have the opportunity to assume a leadership role as Medical Director of the Pediatric Complex Care Program.
The clinic is housed in a spacious, newly renovated, handicap accessible location a short distance from Kentucky Children’s Hospital. Other clinics at this site include, Infant Complex Care, NICU Graduate, NICU Neuro, Pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehab, Child Neurology, Pediatric Neurosurgery, Developmental Pediatrics, and Palliative Care.
