Extension Assistant for Family and Consumer Sciences – Fayette County, Lexington, KY
Job SummaryAs an Extension Assistant for Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS), you will provide administrative support to the FCS program area and the county Agent(s). You will report to an Extension Agent and will interact extensively with the general public. The Extension Assistant will be expected to be knowledgeable of the philosophy, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Cooperative Extension Service.
GeneralDuties
- Program support and teaching recruitment & marketing
- Record keeping and maintaining budget files using Quick Books
- Promoting and organizing new clubs, recruiting members and volunteer leaders
- Providing support and guidance to existing clubs and recruiting volunteers
- Planning and conducting events and activities such as project groups, FCS achievement events, and public presentation programs for all clientele
- Assisting in Quick Books and maintaining budget files
- Driver’s License required
- Physical Requirements:
Job-related travel; visiting clientele at sites throughout the county (including farms); sitting/standing/walking for long periods; handling average-weight objects up to 50 lbs. - Shift: Monday-Friday (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.); occasional nights, weekends or holidays may be required
- Salary Range: $15.30 – $22.00
- Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:
Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Office 365, Teams, Skype for Business, Zoom, Quick Books) - No supervisory responsibilities
- Preferred Education/
Experience:
Education or previous experience in family and consumer sciences; previous experience working in an administrative support role. - State law requires a national and state criminal background check and a letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services stating the employee is clear to hire based on no findings of substantiated child abuse or neglect found through a background check of child abuse and neglect records as a condition of employment or involvement in this program.
