The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky seeks a tenure‑eligible faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with expertise in Hydrologic Sciences/Hydrogeology. This is a 9‑month position with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026. Initial distribution of effort: 25% teaching, 65% research, 10% departmental service;
after the first year: 37% teaching, 53% research, 10% service.
Candidates should have expertise in computational hydrogeology, hydrologic modeling, water resources, surface‑water–groundwater interactions, atmosphere‑hydrosphere feedbacks, critical zone science, and human‑water interactions, with experience in quantifying and forecasting freshwater availability and quality under changing climate dynamics.
In addition to maintaining a productive externally funded research program, the successful candidate will teach and mentor at introductory non‑major, undergraduate major, and graduate levels.
This position is supported by an NSF‑EPSCoR RII Track I grant on resilience to extreme weather and climate in rural Kentucky. The successful candidate will have collaborative opportunities with faculty, research scientists, and students at UK and with scholars from seven additional Kentucky colleges and universities.
