The Department of Chemistry in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY invites applicants for a tenure-eligible faculty position at the Assistant or Associate (preferred) Professor level in Medicinal Chemistry. The Department of Chemistry, together with the Markey Cancer Center (Kentucky's NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center), offers an inspiring, supportive, and collaborative work environment that includes a broad range of faculty expertise with research interests spanning chemical biology, biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology, cancer biology, systems pharmacology, cell biology, immunology, material science, protein engineering, and medicine.
This is a 9‑month position in the regular title series with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026. The first year Distribution of Effort will be 35% Teaching, 55% Research, and 10% Departmental Service.
ResponsibilitiesWe seek imaginative and creative scientists interested in building an innovative research program in cancer medicinal chemistry/chemical biology. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with other scientists within the Department of Chemistry and the Markey Cancer Center and espouse scholarship to mentor Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows. Teaching responsibilities for this position will include instruction at the undergraduate and graduate level in organic and/or biological chemistry.

A Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical biology, pharmacology or related field is required. Core expertise in medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, drug discovery, development, and design, especially as it pertains to advancing the understanding and treatment of cancer, is preferred.
