Work Calendar: Elementary counselors, PGES coaches, social workers, technology resource teachers, mental health specialists (Days: 199)

Job DescriptionProvides a functional, comprehensive program of direct services for all children. Services emphasize counseling, consultation with teachers and parents, and coordination of activities related to mental health, academics, social, emotional and physical needs of students.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Provides individual and group counseling for students.
- Provides evidence‑based and culturally responsive best practices when working with youth.
- Consults teachers and parents about children’s needs and academic issues.
- Collaborates with school staff and community representatives to assess student needs and develop prevention and intervention plans.
- Provides home visits as needed and makes referrals to community resources.
- Works with parents and staff to increase understanding and constructive participation in efforts to support students’ social‑emotional well‑being.
- Serves as a resource person on the Special Education Admissions and Release Committee when appropriate.
- Collaborates with other student support professionals to conduct social‑emotional screenings.
- Contacts parents to obtain signed permission to work with the student and assess needs.
- Maintains documentation in the IC Student Support Professional program.
- Refers students to appropriate authorities for child abuse or neglect when suspicion exists.
- Selects and attends professional development as required by State and District.
- Maintains all professional certifications and licensure requirements.
- Provides clinical supervision to peers as needed.
- Possesses skills and knowledge in dealing with multicultural populations.
- Maintains a clean, welcoming, child‑centered counseling area.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate in more than one language or willingness to learn.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Attends to regular attendance.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in School Counseling, Social Work, or School Psychology.
- Three years of professional clinical experience and licensure preferred.
Licenses or
Certifications:
- School Counseling Certification, School Social Work Certification, or School Psychology Certification required.
- Work performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
- Requires effective communication using speech, vision and hearing.
- Requires use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
- Requires ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
