Overview
We are currently looking for an Adjunct Culinary Instructor at our Lexington location. Adjunct faculty members report to their respective Dean and assist students in progressing through their academic programs to completion. The role involves instruction and assessment of student learning.
Responsibilities- Facilitate student learning in face‑to‑face, online, hybrid, or HyFlex environments, deliver effective, career‑relevant instruction, and evaluate student learning for all assigned classes.
- Engage students using instructional techniques such as collaborative learning, experiential learning, and problem‑based learning.
- Deliver course curriculum utilizing the University’s learning management system.
- Participate in course and program level learning assessments, defining learning outcomes, administering measures, evaluating student performance, and suggesting improvements.
- Collaborate with the Dean, Department Chair, or Program Director in developing and revising course maps, selecting and revising course materials.
- Schedule, supervise, debrief, and evaluate students in clinical, externship, observation, field experience, and similar settings.
- Participate in student retention activities, document retention actions, and ensure students are aware of University services.
- Communicate availability (office hours) to all students across all learning environments via email, phone, or other contacts.
- Attend graduation as encouraged.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree preferred;
Bachelor’s with industry experience considered. - Minimum of 10 years industry experience in culinary, baking, hospitality, or nutrition.
- Serv Safe and/or progressive certification a plus.
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
- Strong leadership, customer service, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Ability to function efficiently in a stressful environment.
- Flexible schedule availability, including evenings, weekends, and travel to multiple locations.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods and move around campus.
- Excellent hearing and speaking ability for communication with students, faculty, and staff.
Pay is $1,900 per class. Hours are as needed, online, face‑to‑face (7 am – 2 pm), or HyFlex.
