Job Summary

The Barnstable Brown Diabetes and Obesity Center at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine is seeking an Assistant, Associate, or Professor faculty candidate at the tenure‑eligible or tenured ranks. Candidates should have an extramurally funded research program, or for early‑career applicants, a high promise of securing extramural funding. The search targets investigators with basic, translational, or clinical research interests broadly related to diabetes and/or obesity.

The role is established within a multidisciplinary setting that addresses health disparities and supports robust research and training infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct innovative research in diabetes and obesity, including basic, translational, or clinical studies.
  • Develop and submit extramural grant proposals to secure research funding.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners and mentor graduate students and trainees.
  • Publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at conferences.
  • Contribute to the academic community through teaching, service, and leadership roles.
Qualifications
  • PhD, MD, or equivalent degree.
  • Dual‑oriented research program in diabetes and/or obesity.
  • Evidence of sustained productivity (publications, grant funding, mentorship).
  • Experience with extramural funding or demonstrable potential to acquire such funding.
  • Tenure track status; candidate must be eligible for tenure or possess a tenure‑eligible rank.
