Mid Social Studies Instructor – responsible for delivering a comprehensive social studies curriculum to middle‑school students, fostering critical thinking, discussion and global awareness.

• Meets and instructs assigned classes at scheduled times.
• Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity of the students.
• Prepares for classes assigned and provides written evidence of preparation upon supervisor request.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides the learning process toward curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units and projects.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the classroom’s physical limitations and student needs.
• Strives to implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
• Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
• Diagnoses learning disabilities of students, seeking district specialist assistance as needed.
• Makes all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
• Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and regulation.
• Assists administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct.
• Provides reasonable availability to students and parents outside instructional hours when required.
• Plans and supervises assignments for instructional aides and volunteers, evaluating their performance cooperatively with department heads.
• Maintains and improves professional competence.
• Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as required.
• Communicates in more than one language or demonstrates willingness to learn a second language at novice proficiency.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular attendance.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree.

Licenses or

Certifications:

• Valid Kentucky Teaching Certification for the area and grade level of assignment.

• Work involves standing, sitting, walking, and sometimes bending, squatting, crawling, and reaching.
• Requires effective communication through speech, vision and hearing.
• Uses hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
• May lift, carry, push or pull light weights.

Salary: $50,586 to $89,619 Per Year
