Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Physiology – Tenure-Track, Full-Time – Lexington, KY – Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. required – Preference for research in pulmonary, renal, or reproductive physiology.

Job Summary

The University of Kentucky College of Medicine is a renowned academic institution with prominent clinical and research programs. The Department of Physiology is a highly productive and collegial environment with faculty and trainees engaged in research across a spectrum of human development and disease. We are seeking a faculty member with a Ph.D. and/or M.D. to establish an independent, extramurally-funded research program addressing significant and fundamental questions in their field.

Applicants should be prepared to contribute to the Department’s missions in research, teaching, and academic service. The position offers competitive start-up funds, independent research space, and professional development resources.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and direct an independent extramurally-funded research program in physiology, with emphasis on pulmonary, renal, or reproductive physiology (subject to preference).
  • Conduct high-quality research and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and mentor students and trainees.
  • Engage in academic service, including committee work and departmental leadership.
  • Supervise graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and other research staff.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. degree in physiology or related field.
  • Demonstrated potential for independent research and obtaining extramural funding.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching and mentoring (or potential to demonstrate).
  • Experience or potential to supervise graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
  • Preference for candidates with research interests in pulmonary, renal, or reproductive physiology.
  • Strong publication record in the field (or potential to develop one).
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
