Position: Educational Aide 1:1

Job Overview

We are seeking an Educational Aide 1:1 to join our Special Education team. This role involves providing direct, individual support, supervision, and guidance to assigned students in Grades K-3.

Compensation and Environment

Starting Rate: $17 - $20 /hour based on experience

Special Education Program, Grades K-3

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to foster a supportive, high‑achieving learning environment.
  • Implement individualized instruction and behavioral interventions on‑site and in community settings, aligned with each student’s goals.
  • Instruct and monitor students during classroom lessons, ensuring instructional fidelity and applying targeted strategies to enhance comprehension.
  • Track student progress against timelines, communicating successes and areas needing intervention with teachers.
  • Manage student behavior, reinforcing school policies and implementing consistent disciplinary measures.
  • Support and mentor students facing academic challenges, encouraging personal growth and skill development.
  • Complete accurate documentation of student behaviors and performance, reporting observations and providing actionable recommendations.
  • Assist with preparation of detailed behavioral reports, daily activity logs, and other necessary documentation.
  • Communicate proactively with students, colleagues, supervisors, and families regarding needs and achievements.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all student records and information.
  • Participate in assurance and accreditation activities to meet site performance standards.
  • Attend school‑wide, student‑parent, and advisory meetings to support collaborative networks.
  • Respond constructively to feedback, demonstrating continuous professional growth.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required to support student success and the educational community.
Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent with passage of basic skills test.
  • Associate degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
  • Licensed or in the process of obtaining an OH state educational aide permit.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company‑approved crisis management training.
  • Prior experience working with children, preferably in alternative or special education and/or behavioral health settings.
  • Skill in working with students with severe learning, emotional behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders, or other disabilities.
  • Ability to act calmly and decisively in emergencies and make independent decisions.
  • Proficiency in motivating students and having critical conversations to move toward realistic goals.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Knowledge of instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
