Job SummaryTo help students learn subject matter and skills that will enable them to excel in a global society.
Essential Job Functions- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
- Prepare for classes assigned and provide written evidence of preparation upon request
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and other instructional artifacts
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of students or student groups
- Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives
- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required
- Diagnose learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as needed
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
- Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct; develop reasonable classroom rules of behavior and procedure, and maintain order in a fair and just manner
- Provide availability to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and volunteers, evaluating job performance cooperatively with department heads
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence
- Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate in more than one language or the willingness to learn to communicate in more than one language at the novice level of proficiency
- Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree
Licenses or
Certifications:
- Valid Kentucky Teaching Certification for area and grade level of assignment
- Work is performed while standing, sitting, and/or walking
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
