Job Summary

To help students learn subject matter and skills that will enable them to excel in a global society.

Essential Job Functions
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
  • Prepare for classes assigned and provide written evidence of preparation upon request
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and other instructional artifacts
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of students or student groups
  • Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required
  • Diagnose learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as needed
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct; develop reasonable classroom rules of behavior and procedure, and maintain order in a fair and just manner
  • Provide availability to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and volunteers, evaluating job performance cooperatively with department heads
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate in more than one language or the willingness to learn to communicate in more than one language at the novice level of proficiency
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Maintain regular attendance
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Licenses or

Certifications:

  • Valid Kentucky Teaching Certification for area and grade level of assignment
Physical Demands
  • Work is performed while standing, sitting, and/or walking
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
  • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights
