Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8a.m.

-5p.m.

Position Summary

The Biomedical Physiology program is the first undergraduate program in the College of Veterinary Medicine. The minor was established in Fall 2021 and the major in Fall 2022. The program serves over 1,000 students interested in health‑professions and life‑science careers.

Responsibilities
  • Meet with assigned and prospective students in person or remotely to discuss academic progress and course selections.
  • Provide accurate, up‑to‑date information on student progress and generate advising forms and notes.
  • Maintain consistent contact with students experiencing academic difficulties and participate in the Connect and Complete process.
  • Assist students with referrals to other university units (Student Success and Achievement, Accessibility and Testing, Pre‑Professional Advising, etc.).
  • Prepare for orientation and advising workshops; be available throughout June, July, early August, December, and January orientation sessions.
  • Attend campus advising group meetings, pursue an Academic Advising certificate, and work on supervisor‑assigned projects such as advising resource updates and statistical reports.
  • Occasionally assist with educational programming for undergraduate students (orientation sessions, convocation, prospective student visits, etc.).
Qualifications
  • Minimum:
    Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
  • Preferred:
    Experience advising pre‑health or life‑science majors, experience with lower, upper level and transfer‑student advising, strong service ethic, excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Physical Demands
  • Sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Light lifting.
