Elementary Classroom Teacher (Assigned to 2nd Grade) for the school year.
Position PurposeUnder the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district‑approved curriculum; documenting student progress and activities; addressing specific educational needs; creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding progress, expectations and goals.
Essential Functions- Develops and administers school elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small‑group instruction.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to utilize instructional time effectively.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small‑group instruction as needed.
- Instructs students in responsible citizenship, applicable laws, and administrative regulations and procedures of the school system.
- Acquires professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or conducting research.
- Organizes and maintains accurate record‑keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance.
- Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensures student conduct conforms to school standards and district policies and maintains standards of behaviour.
- Coordinates with elementary staff to evaluate and assess curriculum; participates in faculty meetings and committees.
- Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids, supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
- Supervises students in off‑classroom activities, including transportation activities.
- Administers standardized tests according to district testing programs.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators.

Equipment, Travel and Physical DemandsUses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, copy machines, fax machines and telephone.
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Works in standard office and school building environments.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiation based on student learning styles.
- Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of data systems, data analysis and action‑plan formulation.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self‑evaluation for performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Qualifications ProfileCertification/License: P-5 License, P-3 License, K-8, or 1-8 License
Ohio State Certification: Elementary Teacher; preferred for appropriate grade level.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related discipline;
Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: Prior teaching experience for appropriate grade levels is a plus.
