Position: 4th Grade Homeroom (Science/ Math Specialization): Mater Dei Academy

About Mater Dei Academy Mater Dei Academy is a vibrant Catholic elementary school located in Wickliffe, Ohio, dedicated to providing a high‑quality spiritual and academic education. We look to nurture our students to grow in faith, knowledge, and service. We are seeking an enthusiastic, faith‑filled educator to join our faculty as a 4th Grade Homeroom Teacher specializing in Math and Science.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will design and deliver engaging, hands‑on instructional lessons in Mathematics, Science and Religion to 4th‑grade students. This educator will instill a love of discovery and problem‑solving while integrating Catholic values and teachings into daily classroom life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instruction & Curriculum:
    Teach 4th‑grade mathematics (focusing on fractions, decimals, long division, and algebraic thinking) and Science (including life, physical, and earth sciences) aligned with Ohio Learning Standards and the Diocese of Cleveland curriculum in addition to the homeroom religion class.
  • Hands‑on Learning:
    Implement inquiry‑based science experiments and interactive math models to make abstract concepts concrete for young learners.
  • Faith Integration:
    Model Christian values and foster spiritual growth among students, weaving faith and morality into the curriculum where appropriate.
  • Classroom Management:
    Maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity, respect, and mutual support.
  • Assessment & Differentiation:
    Use formative and summative data to assess student progress, differentiating instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    Maintain frequent, clear partnership communication with parents regarding academic progress and behavior. Collaborate actively with the 4th‑grade team and broader faculty.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Valid Ohio Teaching License (P‑3, K‑5, or 4‑9 License preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Middle Childhood Education, or a related field.
  • Virtus trained (or willing to undergo training prior to the start of the school year).
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to pass FBI/BCI background checks.
